this fic u speak off............Where Is The Link
full disclosure, at the end of the day it is a kylo/reader fic written before tlj (of course). i myself am not a kylo fan by any means, if you even looked in my kylo search on my main you’ll just see me bullying him dahjjhds HOWEVER, this fic is, and has been, one of my favorite pieces of writing since i found the fic back in early 2016. its over 1 mil words in length, and the synopsis is as follows:
When you are asked to be an interpreter for an alien species aboard the Starkiller Base for a six month internship, you agree, even without being told the full specifications of your assignment. Assured that you are being told as little as possible for your own safety, you begin to wonder if such a thing is even possible, especially when you learn that you’ve captured the special attention of a certain man aboard the ship, who stalks about in black and hides behind a mask.
This is how it begins.
krasava, the writer, is a deaf woman herself, so the fic does take pieces from her own experiences throughout the entire fic, especially in the last part sahhjsd but in any case, it’s an incredibly well written fic that actually doesnt just center around kylo. the second part…barely has him in it ahhjshjs. and the reader isn’t just with him throughout the fic, as it spans across…many, many years time. i don’t exactly know how to perfectly encapsulate how much i prefer this fic to canon, especially because of how well it treats the actual characters (which, might i add, is so much better than how tlj & tros treated them…especially finn -_-) and absolutely no one from tfa who was mistreated by kylo ends up his friend or even really liking him by the end. which i am very much glad for. also, hux dies which is what really matters to me.
ANYWAY, link to the fic is here
